The Lady of Harp Academy was founded in 2022 with a mission to
create a more inclusive and culturally responsive music education
experience for children from marginalized communities.
The idea took shape after I witnessed a culturally insensitive choral
presentation at my former school. It took me an entire day to fully
process what I had seen—and to sit with the hurt, frustration, and
disappointment that came from such a blatant display of ignorance. In
that moment, I knew I had to do more. I had to help build something
that offered meaningful representation, especially for children who
rarely see themselves reflected in traditional music spaces.
That experience became the catalyst for The Lady of Harp Academy, a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe,
harp-positive environment where young people can access
resources, instruction, and performance opportunities that honor
their identities and uplift their creative voices.
