LOHA in the Community
We believe music is meant to be shared. That’s why community engagement is a big part of what we do. Our students get chances to perform at local events, partner with neighborhood organizations, and be part of projects that uplift and inspire. These experiences help build confidence, connect families, and remind everyone that music is a
powerful way to bring people together.
Prior to formally incorporating, we held our first community workshop on December 12, 2021, in Miami Gardens. This city was chosen in an effort to be visible in a BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) neighborhood. It was a two hour class that focused on beginners in a community setting that welcomed students of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
We finished 2024 with our first Winter Recital which featured students from elementary school to college. Parents were delighted by the sight of their children on stage enjoying the captivating sounds of the harp. Starbucks served as our food sponsor. The Miami Woman’s Club donated the use of their venue. A harp duo was featured at The Sonata Assisted Living Facility for the Holiday Bar-b-que. A second harp duo was also featured during the Menorah Lighting in North Miami Beach. While these events were not produced by this organization, we were happy to provide
our students with the opportunity to entertain the community.
Students perform in a variety of places other than the recital stage:
-Assisted Living Facilities (Dec 2024)
-The Miami Womans’ Club (Dec 2024)
-Menorah Lighting for the City of North Miami Beach (Dec 2024)
-The Maestro Rolney Duverny Foundation Awards
